Brazil’s Volkscomputer – reports that Brazil has commissioned the design of a $600 computer, to bridge the “digital divide”. No hard drive, no disk drive; just a mouse, keyboard, monitor, and Linux. Now they are trying to figure out how to make Internet access cheap for all of the poor people, since most of them don’t even have phones. Hmm, what the heck — no medicine, no phone — at least we can give them a computer!
